Guardian of Life | Jewish Music Not a legend softened by history — a living אמת.
The Chafetz Chaim didn’t just teach Torah… he lived it with fire, truth, and relentless love for Am Yisrael.
A song about guarding the tongue, standing for truth, and remembering that one word can destroy worlds — or save them.
“Who desires life? … Guard your tongue, and live.”
For the past decade, the BeEzrat HaShem Inc. team has brought you countless shiurim and Torah films to inspire you to do TeShuva and return to HaShem and His Torah. SONG: Guardian of Life
LYRICS:
Not a story softened by time.
A living אמת…
Called the חָפֵץ חַיִּים.
In a broken house with walls undone,
He chose Torah over comfort and fun.
No polished floors, no pride on display,
“Why fix a house when souls can grow?”
He wrote Mishnah Berurah, clear and precise,
Guiding every step of Jewish life.
But books alone were never his goal,
He went door to door to awaken the soul.
At ninety, at one hundred, still knocking with care,
Begging Jews to remember who they are.
Not for honor, not for name or fame,
Just fear of Heaven, just Hashem’s Name.
חָפֵץ חַיִּים, desirer of life,
You guarded the tongue, you sharpened the knife.
Against lies dressed up as peace,
You taught us silence brings healing release.
Not soft, not weak, not blind to decay—
You loved Am Yisrael enough to say.
They paint him gentle, like words don’t sting,
But they forget how truth must cut to bring.
When Shabbat burned before his eyes,
He cried real tears, not polite goodbyes.
He saw success and he saw the trap,
This world smiles while debts stack.
He warned us clear, without disguise:
Reward delayed does not mean it dies.
For ninety years, with no regret,
He cursed one man who tried to mislead—
Not from hatred, not from pride,
But to guard the nation from poison inside.
חָפֵץ חַיִּים, guardian of speech,
You taught us restraint is how we reach.
If it’s not Torah—close your mouth,
That silence heals both North and South.
One table saved from lashon hara’s flame
Is worth a lifetime chasing name.
Five minutes of Torah at a table loud,
Stops destruction forming in a crowd.
One word held back, one lie not said,
Saves worlds no one else can see instead.
They ask for cures, they ask for signs,
He gave the remedy in simple lines:
Guard your tongue.
And you guard your life.
Born in exile, Grodno’s cold air,
Yet his words reached everywhere.
From Sefer חָפֵץ חַיִּים, page by page,
He armed generations for every age.
Not philosophy. Not empty grace.
הֲלָכָה lived in time and place.
From נִדְחֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל to soldiers alone,
He carried Torah wherever Jews roamed.
חָפֵץ חַיִּים, light that remains,
Your words still heal our deepest pains.
In a world that talks and talks and lies,
You taught us life is guarded by quiet eyes.
Not a care bear, not a myth refined—
A giant of truth for all mankind.
Who desires life?
Who loves days to see good?
Guard your tongue.
And live.
